What this tool removes

JPEG: application metadata and comments, except JFIF, ICC color profiles and Adobe rendering information. PNG: EXIF, text and timestamp chunks. WebP: EXIF and XMP chunks. Trailing data is discarded. Encoded image data is not recompressed.

Color profiles and other retained chunks may still contain information. The tool does not claim to remove all hidden data, watermarks, steganography or visible identifying details.

Verification and limits

The tool re-scans the cleaned container, re-reads its tags and compares the decoded dimensions and pixels in this browser. If a check fails, download remains disabled. Images requiring EXIF rotation may fail the pixel check.

Still JPG, PNG and WebP only. Animated PNG/WebP are rejected. Limits: 25 MiB and 20 megapixels. File names for downloaded copies are neutral. Do not remove copyright or attribution information you are required to retain.

Local processing

The tool uses locally hosted scripts and processes the selected file in the browser. This page does not include the old page's Analytics or advertising scripts. Global site scripts remain shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will every hidden detail be removed?

No. The supported blocks are listed above. Color profiles and other retained chunks can still contain information, and visible identifying details remain.

Does the tool change the original file?

No. It creates a separate copy in the same format and only enables download after its verification checks pass.

Why can a rotated photo fail verification?

Some images depend on EXIF orientation for correct display. Removing it can change the rendered image. When the pixel comparison detects a difference, download is blocked.

Why do technical tags remain?

Dimensions, encoding details and retained rendering information are still needed to describe or display the image. Their presence is not the same as retained GPS tags.
