Video Compressor
Create an MP4 copy of a supported video locally in your browser. Choose quality, resolution and frame-rate settings, keep or remove audio, and compare the file size before downloading.
Compress Video to MP4 in Your Browser
Vamriko Video Compressor uses the local FFmpeg WebAssembly engine to re-encode a supported video as an MP4 file with H.264 video. When an audio track is present and you do not select Remove audio track, the tool encodes the first audio track as AAC.
The selected video is processed in your browser rather than uploaded to a Vamriko server for conversion. Processing uses device memory and computing resources, so start with a short clip if you are testing a new file type or device.
A smaller output is not guaranteed. The result can be larger when the original is already efficiently compressed or the selected settings use more data. Compare the displayed sizes and check the downloaded video before using it. Your original file is not overwritten.
How to Compress a Video
1. Choose a Video
Select one video from your device. Review its displayed size, duration and resolution.
2. Choose Export Settings
Start with Balanced quality. Keep the original resolution or choose a lower height limit. Keep the source frame timing or select a frame-rate cap. Leave Remove audio track unchecked if you want to include the first audio track.
3. Compress, Compare and Download
Run compression and compare the original and output sizes. Download the MP4 and check its playback, audio, duration and visual quality. If the output is too large, try stronger compression or a lower resolution.
Understanding the Compression Settings
Light, Balanced, Strong and Maximum select different quality targets for H.264 encoding. Stronger compression can reduce visible detail; choose a setting that suits the video rather than assuming the strongest option is always best.
The resolution choices limit output height without intentionally enlarging smaller videos. Dimensions are adjusted to even pixel values for the selected encoding format, so an odd source dimension can change slightly.
Keep original FPS preserves source frame timing rather than forcing a fixed 30 FPS. The other choices apply a maximum frame-rate setting. Review the exported video, especially when the source has variable frame timing.
Video Compressor FAQ
What format does the tool export?
The output is MP4 with H.264 video. The first audio track is encoded as AAC when present, unless you choose to remove audio.
Is my video uploaded for compression?
The compression code processes your selected video locally using the FFmpeg files served by the site. It does not upload the video to a Vamriko conversion server. Loading the website and engine files still requires network access.
Will the output always be smaller?
No. Output size depends on the source and export settings. An already compressed video can produce a larger output. Compare the sizes and try stronger compression or a lower resolution when appropriate.
Does compression affect quality?
Re-encoding can change visual detail. Lower resolution and stronger compression can make the output less suitable for large displays. Check the downloaded video before sharing or replacing any working copy.
Can I remove the sound?
Yes. Select Remove audio track before compressing. Leave it unchecked to include the first audio track if the source contains one.
Can I process several videos at once?
This version processes one selected video at a time. Use Compress Another Video to select the next file.
Why can a video fail to process?
The engine may be unable to read the selected file, or the browser may run out of resources. Read the displayed error, try a shorter clip or lower resolution, and avoid treating the absence of an error as proof of correct playback.
How long does processing take?
Time depends on video length, resolution, settings and device performance. The progress indicator is approximate. Wait for the result before downloading.
